In 1624 English poet John Donne wrote a poem whose first line reads, “No man is an island entire of itself…” He went on in the same short poem to write, “any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”
When it comes to not only the Church [big C], but those around us in community, we all need each other! The Psalms say "Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity". It is a beautiful thing to see a couple, a family, or a community in unity [in fact, it's built right into the word community - which means 'common unity'].
